2028 Green Party candidates
Who could carry the Green Party banner in 2028, and how the party picks its presidential nominee. No candidate has declared yet - here is the state of play.
2028 Green Party candidates: where things stand
The Green Party of the United States nominates its presidential candidate at a national convention in the election year, with delegates allocated through state-level Green primaries and caucuses. In 2024, the party again nominated Jill Stein, its best-known national figure.
Ballot access is the Green Party's central challenge. Unlike the Libertarians, the Greens qualify for fewer state ballots and spend much of each cycle petitioning to expand access, often facing legal challenges from major-party opponents.
As of June 2026, no candidate has declared for the 2028 Green nomination, and it is an open question whether Jill Stein runs again. We will list candidates here as they emerge, with their ballot status.
